Ever since I was a young girl I had a passion for the outdoors. Camping, fishing, and hiking were normal activities for me at about the age of 7, and my parents even gave me the nickname “The Forest Fairy” because I was always spent countless hours playing in the woods when we went camping. When I was 8 my parents, my brothers and I moved to south Reno, Nevada, which at the time was a desolate desert – miles away from the city. My new backyard became the desert and the mountains behind our house. I would spend hours scouring the mountains looking for lizzards or cool “Indian” rocks as I called them.

This sense of adventure, and exploring places most people my age have not has followed me into my adult life where I hope to harness this passion into a career. I use my love for the outdoors to clear my head, get exercise and further my education and perspective on the land in the Sierras. I hope to one day work with the Department of Wildlife or the United States Forestry Services to conserve the land, forest and mountains that I grew up with for future generations to enjoy.

With this blog I will give you a 360 degree view of the trails and surrounding Reno/Sparks hot spots in Nevada. We will be on dirt trails, cement trails going up and down mountains and ridges, and all these places are dog friendly, which is most important to me. So grab a waterbottle, some hiking boots and your furry friend and I will show you how beautiful and exciting the world under our feet is!
